Portstewart Golf Club
Host to the 2017 Irish Open, Portstewart Golf Club is now well and truly on the golfing radar. The 2017 Irish Open was arguably the most successful in recent years with one of the strongest fields. Portstewart is as visually breathtaking as it is spectacular with arguably one of the best opening stretches of holes in golf. The first hole sees you tee off from a huge elevation down in between the dunes on the left and right all the while the beach and out of bounds to the right is visible and in the corner of your eye. The second continues in the same vein with a hugely elevated tee box, dunes to your left but there is some reprieve to the right this time although you can't veer too far off course at the same time. A good lie is a must as you are hitting into a hugely elevated narrow green that punishes shots both to the left and right. The course doesn't get much easier from there either, this is a true test of golf.
