The K Club
There are two championship courses located at The K Club facility, the Palmer course, and the Smurfit course. The Palmer course hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup and multiple editions of the European Open throughout the years as well as the 2016 edition of the Irish open which was won by Rory McIlroy. The Smurfit course has previously hosted the Irish Open on 3 occasions, 2004, 2006, and 2007. Both courses are of considerable quality but the Palmer course will always have a special place in the hearts of all Irish people after it hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup which resulted in a home win for the European side. Many thought the staging of such a big event in Ireland was just a pipe dream but Michael Smurfit (Club Owner) made that a reality. On-site there is also the 5-star hotel which is one of the finest establishments in Ireland and has a world-renowned reputation.
