Portmarnock Links
Opened for play in 1995, designed by Bernhard Langer and set in the grounds of the old Jameson estate of St. Marnocks. Portmarnock Links has some of the best east coast views that Dublin has to offer. The 16th hole on the links is as fine a hole as you'll find anywhere, it was voted into the top 100 golf holes in Ireland by Irish Golfer magazine back in 2016 and it's hard to disagree. With an elevated tee shot and a massive pot bunker plonked just to the right-hand side of the fairway one must either aim left of the bunker and fade it back in order to hold the fairway or else carry the bunker, neither of which is an easy proposition and it doesn't get much easier after that. The course also boasts some of my personal favourite par 3s. With an on-site hotel that has recently gone through a massive overhaul, making it one of the finer hotels available in Dublin, it may just be the ideal base for some golf on the East Coast.
