County Louth Golf Club
Also known more locally as Baltray, County Louth Golf Club is the home of the annual amateur East of Ireland Championship. It is also the venue where Shane Lowry won the 2009 Irish Open whilst still an amateur. So to say this course is steeped in golfing history would be an understatement. All the greats of Irish golf have at one stage or another in their careers walked the grounds of County Louth Golf Club. Joe Carr won his first of 11 East of Ireland titles in 1941 and Darren Clarke also put his name on the coveted trophy in 1989. There is a reason this course hosts the East of Ireland year on year and that is because of the fine course that it is. The nervy first tee shot, the excitement of the third shot (or worse) over the hill onto a blind green on the 3rd, all the while in anticipation of whether or not the right line was taken and knowing that anything less than perfection could lead to a high score.
